Review: Security by Gina Wohlsdorf

Tessa Kennedy is the manager of the new Manderley Resort, on the beach in Santa Barbara. They are just days from the grand opening and Tessa is under intense pressure from the owner, Charles Destin, to make sure that every detail is perfect. The hotel has cutting-edge security systems – every move is monitored from an inaccessible security room. But slowly the staff begins to realize that someone else is watching: a killer is lurking in the halls and hidden passages of Manderley and no one is safe.

Surveillance is a constant theme. The narrative switches between third-person perspectives and surveillance footage, which just reinforces the fact that someone is always watching. The killer is able to use those systems to pick off the staff, one by one. The killer is brutal and the book does not shy away from the violence.

Finally, Tessa uses her knowledge of the hotel’s layout and security systems to her advantage. In the end, she faces the killer in a dramatic showdown, revealing hidden motives and dark secrets about the hotel’s construction and ownership.

Security was a good read. It moves quickly, there are some twists and turns and big reveals to keep you turning pages

My copy of Security came from my personal library.
