Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

I took these photos on my last trip to Los Angeles. I had a little F2F with some online friends down in Little Tokyo, where we ate Korean BBQ and bought Japanese souvenirs. It’s one of my favorite parts of town. There was a tea festival, an anime contest — lots of young people dressed in amazing costumes — and the Tanabata Festival all going on. The streets were filled with women in traditional (and not so traditional) kimono, as well as men in traditional clothing and hats. There was a whole street filled with colorful banners, which is where I took these:

Lisa, Little Tokyo is a great spot. Good food, lots of interesting little shops, very walkable.

The banners are made of all sorts of materials: origami, fabric, foil, there was even a banner with knitted strands. Sadly, I don’t know anything about the cultural significance, but they made a lovely display.
