Okay, here we are again – ready for another little teaser. You know the rules: open your current book at random, select two teaser sentences (and don’t give away the surprise ending!) and post them here.

I’m currently reading The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I know I’m a little behind the curve on this one – most of the blogs have been over this one months ago – but I’ve been eager to get around to this one. Very, very good so far. This book grabs you from the very first pages; a perfect example is today’s teaser, which comes from page 2:

“For a glorious moment, you achieve the empty bliss that Eastern philosophers spend their lives pursuing. But following this transcendence, your mind becomes a supercomputer capable of calculating the gyrations of your car, multiplying that by the speed of the fall over the angle of descent, factoring in Newton’s laws of motion and, in a split second, coming to the panicked conclusion that this is gonna hurt like hell.“
