It’s Tuesday already and time for another teaser.!
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week, my teaser is from my current audiobook, The Baseball Codes: Beanballs, Sign-Stealing and Bench-Clearing Brawls. I’m amused and entertained, as well as being annoyed by the whole thing. Some of the unwritten rules are just plain silly! And the part about pitchers going after batters, throwing fastballs at their heads? Downright scary. Of course, the intimidation can go the other way, too. Take this little exchange between young pitcher Jim Colborn and veteran slugger Jim Rice:
“I thought Colborn was going to commit suicide. Rice told him, ‘If you come that close to me with one more pitch, I’m gonna tear your head off.'”
Just a little friendly banter between players, yes?
