I love this quote! It’s not an author I’m familiar with, but I like the idea that I am somehow giving back to the books I read, sharing something of myself with their pages. I also think it is extremely accurate, in that reading a book I loved at another period in my life takes me back to that time. Sometimes, I don’t even recognize the person I was back then, but I can still get a glimmer of myself from the books.
“Isn’t it odd how much fatter a book gets when you’ve read it several times?” Mo had said…”As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells…and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower…both strange and familiar.”
