Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. You know the rules: grab your current read, open to a random page and share a two sentence teaser with us (no spoilers!). Be sure to tell us about the book, so we can add it to our TBR list!
This week, my teaser is from Sea Change by S.M. Wheeler. It was described as “a weird, operatic coming-of-age fantasy streaked with sexuality, pain and heroism,” which sounded fabulous even though I originally thought it read “pain and heroin.” Got to be careful with those Ms and Ns.
“The troll clenched her fingers and pulled; continued upwards, claws raking, knocking aside Lily’s hands —
They would not inflict that pain in Hell, for even Satan knew what sinners deserved not to suffer.”
I don’t yet know what’s going on in this particular passage, as this is truly a blind teaser, but I found it very descriptive, making me flinch a little even as I was reading it.
