Joseph-Beth Booksellers, my favorite local bookstore, is closing its doors.

I imagine that its hard to keep such an amazing space open in the days of Amazon and eReaders.  But Joseph-Beth!  This place drew in some amazing authors – I met writers, celebrities, and book lovers of all sorts.  I went to book signings, book clubs and midnight Harry Potter sales.   I loved them all.  I’ve spent hours in the Bistro, eating and drinking and reading.  I used it a couple of times as a meeting place for first dates.  I’ve bought more books than I can count there, but sadly, that wasn’t enough.

I’ll admit that I love the ease and convenience of ordering books online.  I love the discount prices that a place like Amazon can offer.  But no website can offer the camaraderie of fellow book lovers.   This is a place that will really be missed.
