Books on the road

This week I’m on the road, so I have no idea what’s in my mailbox. Instead, I thought I’d tell you what I brought with me to read on the road.

In the airport this morning, I started what I think is going to be a really fun book. Heads You Lose by Lisa Lutz is a murder mystery. Lisa wrote the odd chapters and her ex-boyfriend, David Hayward, wrote the even chapters. They are making up the story as they go along – with a few rules – and the book includes their email correspondence. Seven chapters in and that has already devolved into an argument about not stopping for gas on a road trip to Reno a decade ago. This is going to be fun!

I’ve also got Blood Trust with me. This is the third Jack McClure novel (you can check out my reviews of First Daughter and Last Snow), and Eric van Lustbader has created a really interesting cast of characters. Last Snow ended with a huge shocker and I can’t wait to see how he moves the story forward.

I only brought 2 books on this trip. I’m only in town 4 nights and I expect this is going to be a pretty busy trip. I’m a little worried about running out of reading material, but there’s a bookstore down the street from our hotel and there’s always the bookstore at the Minneapolis Airport. I’m bound to find enough to read…I hope!
